Chuck Prophet - Live Weds Night and Sat afternoon on Indie

We carried James McMurtry live from VideoRanch in California a couple of weeks back and although we had no technical problems with the hook up, the machine we use for archiving did not record the performance. We mentioned the Videoranch hosting Chuck Prophet and that happened this past Saturday. To cover our bases (ie: eliminate any errors), we went ahead and recorded it for playback this upcoming week. Listen for it Wednesday night the 27th at 6p - a whole hour of Chuck Prophet live - WITH a shout-out to Indiesf from Chuck himself right towards the end of the show!!

David Byrne and Brian Eno player

We are true music lovers here at Indiesf and go out of our way to FIND new music and not rely solely on what the record companies send (Clear Channel does that so well) we are proud to have the new David Byrne and Brian Eno to stream for you here on the site. Enjoy - I only got it posted late Monday and have only made it thru the first couple songs but will be burning it to disc to listen to - numerous times I imagine.

New IndieSF shows for weekends

As we reached our year anniversary, we thought is was time to bring back some specialty programming on weekends. Off The Beat-n-Track is now holding down the noon slot on Saturdays playing lots of undiscovered, unsigned artists from American soil and beyond, hosted by a former touring musician and recording studio enigineer, Todd Mack.

Although not new to Indie,  DJ Santo is back with Something Different Sundays at 6. Santo was with us back in our fm days and has expanded the scope of the show to 3 hours spinning the best in nujazz, chill, electro, breakbeat, and other grooves not heard anywhere else.

We are looking to replay these shows thru-out the week so keep checking back for re-broadcast times.

Stay tuned and Stay Indie!

Double Whammy - Hayes and Mac RIP

Can you believe it? I mean, Bernie was 50 for dogsakes! His doctors were getting to issue a clean bill of health. I always fear the dreaded "he/she was found face down in a plate of cocaine" but Hayes was found next to his treadmill but pronounced dead sometime later.

The 420 Mile Answer Back

Rocque threw down the gauntlet a couple weeks ago as we were talking about whether or not to put DJ Santos show (Something Different) on after the IGD on Friday nights, and he floated the idea of how fun it would be to basically hand the reigns of the station back to me via an "Answer Back" set ie: a set of music put together by me to kinda bridge the gap from Roc setting the stream ablaze to, well, bringing it back down to its regular simmer. So, in essence, Roc hands the controls back to me across 420 miles (and some change) at 8 Friday nights following the IGD. If you haven't already, grab his podcasts over there in the right. Last week, no kidding, he did his show while hallucinating (fever induced) and doing shooters of Theraflu. A new drinking game?  Stay Healthy and Stay Indie! One more thing - DJ Santo WILL be airing Sundays at 6pm.

OnLine, Unrestricted, and Uncensored !

Hey Everybody,

Its late on a Wednesday and I'm sitting in the bunker restoring some of the songs in the library to their original unexpurgated states. I was listening to the stream (I log many hours every day) and heard Lucinda Williams 'Essence' (with the wonderful F*bomb) and remembered an email I received back when we were on the fm complaining about the songs we had edited. Of course, we couldn't let those drop back then as we didn't have the money to pay the fines that accompany that sorta slip on the air. Well, we don't have to abide by those rules anymore so expect to hear the Indie library with the wraps taken off - no more cheesy radio edits! Now, this is going to be an on going project so rather than shooting off an angry email to me if you hear one, I would instead appreciate a heads-up to let me know what the song is and I will be sure to restore it to the f**king way the artist intended it to be heard (this goes for all the music contained in our specialty shows like the IGD). Goodnight...and Stay Indie.
